Welcome to The Whale House — an oceanfront home on Campbell River's 6 km Seawalk with panoramic views of the Salish Sea and coastal mountains. Watch for humpbacks, orcas, and bald eagles right from your deck, or grab the binoculars from the reading nook for a closer look. Walk or bike to restaurants, Discovery Pier, and downtown — everything is within reach.
Your home is managed by Retreat Vacation Rentals. If you need anything during your stay, don't hesitate to reach out.
Your check-in details — including entry instructions — are provided in your booking confirmation message. Check your platform chat (Airbnb, VRBO, etc.) or email for everything you need to get in.
- No smoking. No smoking in the home. Evidence of indoor smoking is subject to a $250 fee.
- Quiet hours. 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM. Please be respectful of neighbours.
- No events or parties. Evidence may result in booking cancellation and a fee.
- No pets unless arranged directly with host prior to your stay. A fee may apply.
- No candles. Please do not use candles in the home.
- No outdoor garbage. Please do not leave garbage unattended outdoors — wildlife is active in the area.
Garbage & Recycling
Use the disposal receptacles provided outside by the side of the home. Please bag all garbage before placing in the bins and fasten the lid to keep wildlife out. Sort recycling using the provided receptacles.
Climate Control
Gas fireplace: Use the thermostat located directly behind the fridge — reach behind it and select your desired temperature.
Mini-split AC: The wall-mounted mini-split unit controls heating and cooling. Use the remote to set your preferred temperature and mode.
Kitchen
The kitchen has everything you need — drip coffee maker (coffee provided), blender, toaster, electric kettle, microwave, 4-burner electric stovetop, electric oven, and a fully stocked spice rack. Light wood cabinetry with bar seating for 3 and a full dining table for 6. Dishwasher included.
Laundry
Front-loading washer and dryer in-unit. Laundry detergent is provided. Iron and ironing board available.
Towels & Linens
Linens and bath towels are provided. Please bring your own beach towels — bath towels are for indoor use only.
Entertainment
50-inch TV with Amazon Firestick — Netflix, Prime Video, and Disney+ are available. The reading nook by the window has ocean views, two reading chairs, binoculars for wildlife spotting, and a mini library with books and board games.
Deck
The upper deck connects directly from the living area and offers panoramic ocean and mountain views. Yellow patio chairs and a table for outdoor dining. This is where most guests spend their time — morning coffee with sunrise over the strait, whale watching, and evening BBQs.
BBQ
Propane gas BBQ on the deck. BBQ utensils are provided. Please turn off the propane after each use.
Parking
Please do not park on the driveway. There is parking on the frontage road directly in front of the house — 3 spots are available. Please keep the driveway and garage door with the whale mural unblocked.
Duplex Note
The Whale House is one side of a side-by-side duplex. Each home is completely private with separate entrances and its own amenities. The homeowner or other guests may be in the neighbouring unit.
Accessibility
Single-level home with a private entrance. No stairs inside the unit.

Security

Checkout Checklist
- Dishes — load the dishwasher and leave it running with all dishes cleaned.
- Towels — place used towels in the bathtub.
- Lights — turn off all lights.
- Appliances — turn off all appliances used (including BBQ).
- Lock up — lock all doors.
- Garbage — bag all garbage and place in bins by the garage.
